Amman: The Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Wednesday signed an agreement with a local contractor valued at JD6.1 million to upgrade the water network in Tafileh Governorate. The agreement includes a significant JD5.756 million grant from the US government, aimed at enhancing the water supply system’s efficiency in the region.
According to Jordan News Agency, the project is set to rehabilitate and develop both main and secondary water lines, significantly reducing water loss in Tafileh. A statement from the ministry highlighted the strategic importance of this project as part of a broader initiative to modernize water networks across the Kingdom, as emphasized by Minister of Water Raed Abu Al-Saud.
The Tafileh water project will see the construction of 3.7 kilometers of main lines from the Al-Eis reservoir to Tafileh city, along with 11.6 kilometers of lines from the Zabda reservoir to the Hasa 3 pump station, utilizing ductile iron pipes. Additionally, the old network in the city will be rehabilitated with the construction of 32.3 kilometers of new lines, consisting of 14 kilometers of ductile pipe and 18.3 kilometers of polyethylene, according to Minister Abu Al-Saud.
