Attempt to Smuggle 16kg of Marijuana at Airport Foiled

Amman: Jordan Customs Department (JCD) and Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel operating at Queen Alia International Airport, in cooperation with security agencies, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 16 kilograms of marijuana into the Kingdom.

According to Jordan News Agency, a passenger, an East Asian national arriving from an Arab country, was suspected of carrying drugs. After a thorough search, the relevant authorities found the quantity of the narcotic substance in the traveler’s possession. The JCD stated that the suspect was arrested, and the seized materials were handed over to the AND for further legal action.

The customs department affirmed its readiness to confront any attempt to smuggle prohibited or harmful substances to protect the Kingdom and its citizens. This effort is in partnership with security agencies at all border crossings.
