Amman: Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmad Safadi held separate meetings with the ambassadors of Japan and Australia to discuss relations, particularly in the parliamentary sphere.
According to Jordan News Agency, in a meeting with the Japanese ambassador, Safadi emphasized King Abdullah II’s commitment to strengthening Jordan’s ties with Japan, recognizing Tokyo’s essential support in various areas. He highlighted the urgent need to halt the ongoing conflict in Gaza and facilitate humanitarian aid, praising Japan’s contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Japanese Ambassador Asari Hideki acknowledged King Abdullah II’s consistent advocacy for peace and emphasized the importance of heeding the King’s message for peace and security in the region. Hideki reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to Jordan, describing the country as a reliable partner, and noted ongoing programs with several civil society organizations in Jordan. He expressed concern over the situation in Gaza and reiterated support for the two-state solution and Jordan’s efforts to achieve regional stability and provide aid.
In his meeting with the Australian ambassador, Safadi highlighted the century-long friendship and cooperation between Jordan and Australia, which is based on shared interests. He stressed the importance of increasing trade between the two nations.
Australian Ambassador Bernard Lynch affirmed Australia’s support for Jordan’s initiatives to enhance security and stability in the region, emphasizing the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza. He stressed the importance of strengthening Jordanian-Australian cooperation to enrich their longstanding friendship.
