Vatican City: The “Dawn of Christianity” exhibition has concluded at the Vatican, which launched on January 31st, achieving exceptional success and attracting thousands of visitors from around the world.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event featured a collection of artifacts representing pivotal stages in the Kingdom’s Christian history. The statement released by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) highlighted that some artifacts were showcased for the first time outside Jordan, providing visitors an opportunity to discover archaeological treasures that document the beginnings of Christianity in Jordan.
The remarkable turnout and widespread interaction led the JTB to extend the exhibition’s duration, which was originally scheduled to conclude on February 28th. This extension allowed a greater number of visitors to appreciate Jordan’s cultural treasures.
The JTB indicated that the exhibits focused on the spiritual depth of the Kingdom’s holy sites, mainly the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ on the Jordan River. This site is a destination for Christian pilgrimages recognized by the Vatican.
The exhibition offered a visual and content experience, introducing visitors to a historical and spiritual narrative that reflects Jordan’s heritage as the land of prophets and civilizations. The JTB noted the event’s importance in consolidating and promoting religious tourism to Jordan, home to five sites officially recognized by the Vatican as Christian pilgrimage sites: Baptism Site, Mount Nebo, Machaerus, Lady of the Mount in Anjara, and Tell Mar Elias.
