Health Minister Participates in Arab Health Ministers Council Meeting in Baghdad

BAGHDAD: Firas Al-Hawari, Jordan’s Minister of Health, participated in the 61st regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, hosted by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in Baghdad. The meeting focused on enhancing Arab cooperation in health-related fields, sharing regional health advancements, and developing strategies to address common health challenges.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Hawari highlighted Jordan’s commitment to fostering Arab collaboration in health. He underscored the importance of hosting the meeting in Baghdad as a step towards strengthening joint Arab efforts in health and exchanging knowledge and experiences to tackle shared health issues. He further stressed the need for collaborative health plans to elevate healthcare standards and improve responsiveness to medical emergencies.

The session also acknowledged the first Arab conference on the role of Arab immigrant health competences, held in Jordan last October, which received commendations from attending hea
lth ministers. On the sidelines of the meeting, Al-Hawari engaged in a tripartite discussion with Iraqi Health Minister Saleh Al-Hasnawi and Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister and Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to explore collaborative opportunities among Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt in the health sector.

Al-Hawari praised the longstanding familial and collaborative ties between Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq, particularly in health-related areas. Additionally, he held discussions with Saman Barzinji, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq’s Minister of Health, and Hanan, the Regional Director of the World Health Organization, covering various health topics.

The regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers gathered health ministers from several Arab nations to devise strategic plans addressing regional and global health issues and to enhance public health coordination across Arab countries.
