Interior Minister Reviews Operations at Sheikh Hussein Bridge Crossing

AMMAN: Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya conducted an inspection of the Sheikh Hussein Bridge crossing in the northern Jordan Valley, assessing the daily operations and traffic flow of this vital transit point. The visit underscored the importance of the crossing as a conduit for both commercial exports and humanitarian aid.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Faraya’s visit involved discussions with Irbid Governor Radwan Al-Atoum and representatives from the business and industrial sectors. The discussions focused on strategies to expedite the crossing process and ensure the smooth movement of goods, which is crucial given the crossing’s heavy use for cargo transportation.

Al-Faraya emphasized the crossing’s role in the export of goods and the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to the West Bank and Gaza Strip. However, he noted challenges due to delays on the other side of the crossing, which have resulted in a one-third reduction in the number of vehicles ready for export compared to the previous ye
ar.

During his visit, Al-Faraya toured the truck parking areas and supervised the provision of services aimed at supporting truck drivers while enhancing local environmental and public safety measures. He also reviewed the ongoing renovations intended to accommodate a larger volume of freight vehicles, ensuring efficient movement and transit across the Sheikh Hussein Bridge.
