280 Industrial Firms Set for Specialized Training Under Jordanian Program

Amman:A total of 280 micro and small industrial enterprises have qualified for specialized training and technical mentoring through the "Entrepreneurship in Industry" program, following a successful administrative and financial verification process, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply announced.

According to Jordan News Agency, the three-day training aims to assist beneficiary enterprises in preparing development plans based on scientific principles and best global practices. This initiative is designed to enhance the competitiveness of these projects, create sustainable jobs for Jordanians, and improve their chances of winning program grants. The training sessions will take place across various governorates and locations, coordinated with chambers of industry to facilitate smooth participation.

Following the training, a five-week specialized technical mentoring program will be provided. This will involve individual sessions tailored to each enterprise's specific needs, helping them prepare a business plan suited to their priorities. The ministry, in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Beyond Consulting, has qualified 20 specialized trainers and mentors to deliver these activities.

Upon completion of the training and mentoring phases, participating enterprises will be able to access an application platform to amend and resubmit their initial technical applications. Program evaluators will conduct a final technical assessment and field visits to determine grant recipients.

The ministry received 639 online applications between July and August, assessing each for eligibility. In its initial round, the program aims to award 120 non-refundable grants to micro and small enterprises and 30 grants to medium-sized enterprises, with each grant ranging from JD25,000 to JD100,000. These grants will cover 70 to 80 percent of project costs, with 40 percent of the grants earmarked for enterprises outside Amman.

The German government funds the grants, implemented through the German KfW Development Bank. Program results are expected in the coming weeks, with the final technical evaluation and agreement signings scheduled for early next year.
