20th International Internal Medicine Conference Inaugurated in Amman


Amman: The 20th International Conference of the Jordan Society of Internal Medicine commenced in Amman, assembling local and international experts to explore advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic medical practices.



According to Jordan News Agency, the three-day event is hosted under the patronage of University of Jordan President Nathir Obeidat and is organized in conjunction with the Royal College of Physicians/Edinburgh. This collaboration, established in 2006, forms a pivotal element of continuing medical education in Jordan, enabling local physicians to exchange knowledge with global counterparts from both public and private sectors.



Conference Chairman Nayef Al-Abdallat stated that the event includes 60 lectures covering a wide array of sub-specialties such as gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, and endocrinology. Additional topics include respiratory medicine, rheumatology, hematology, oncology, and infectious diseases.



Al-Abdallat highlighted Jordan’s emergence as a regional hub for healthcare and medical tourism, credited to the efforts of medical innovators and the strategic vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II. He mentioned that the Kingdom’s high-quality services and the expertise of its medical workforce have positioned it as a favored destination for patients from across the Arab world and beyond.



“Our aim is to reinforce the concept of continuing medical education and keep Jordanian doctors abreast of the latest scientific developments,” Al-Abdallat remarked. He further added that the Jordanian healthcare sector is highly competitive within the Middle East and North Africa, adhering to international accreditation standards.



Mohammed Ghneimat, President of the Arab Society of Internal Medicine Specialists, emphasized the importance of the enduring scientific partnership with the Royal College of Physicians, noting its contribution to enhancing medical practice and fostering bilateral cooperation between Jordan and the United Kingdom.



Jordan Medical Association President Issa Al-Khashashneh stressed the critical role of internal medicine as the foundation of the healthcare system. He affirmed the association’s dedication to supporting scientific activities and training programs that keep Jordanian medical professionals at the cutting edge of global developments.



Al-Khashashneh pointed out that the integration between academic institutions and professional organizations is crucial for developing qualified medical personnel capable of serving the health sector with competence. He described the conference as a testament to the esteemed scientific reputation of Jordanian specialists and their commitment to the medical field.
