Amman: Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Noor bint Asem, INJAZ, a local non-profit organization, held a graduation ceremony for the 13th cohort of young leaders in its Lazord Fellowship Programme. This initiative aims to build youth capacities and enhance their practical and leadership skills to actively participate in building a better future for society.

According to Jordan News Agency, the programme is one of INJAZ’s solutions for networking youth with the job market through its extensive partnerships with civil society organizations. The initiative provides youth with the opportunity to join as trainees for a full year in various community establishments, which culminates in employment opportunities with these training entities.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, INJAZ CEO, Deema Bibi, stated the organization is continuing its Lazord Fellowship Programme for the 13th consecutive year as part of a strategic partnership with the Lazord Foundation, in collaboration with local and global
institutions and host establishments. The programme provides participants with a comprehensive, year-long practical experience by providing the necessary skills within the host institutions, which has played a pivotal role in supporting the program’s success and continuity, she pointed out.

Since its inception, Bibi noted the programme has provided more than 150 fellowship opportunities for recent graduates, who have become influential leaders and advocates in their communities. She added that these young leaders in the fellowship programme bear a significant responsibility towards their communities and institutions. Additionally, she urged the alumni to share their experiences during their fellowship year with their peers and contribute to creating a positive and lasting impact.

Bibi stated the programme witnessed a qualitative development this year through the launch of the first regional exchange experience, as INJAZ received a group of young fellows from Tunisia to have a joint experience with their col
leagues in Jordan and acquire skills and expertise during the fellowship period. She mentioned the programme is currently being implemented in four countries: Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia, and Greece.

Experts Highlight Education and Culture in Shaping Amra City Project

Amra city: Experts and specialists on Saturday emphasized the importance of focusing on educational and cultural aspects in the development of the Amra City project. They highlighted the need for a sustainable urban model that reflects Jordanian identity, ensures a high quality of life, and adheres to modern standards.

According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions took place during the education and culture session at the Prime Ministry, moderated by Hassan Katkhuda and Ashraf Bani Mohammad. Participants advocated for the new city to encourage creativity and innovation through the establishment of schools, universities, and cultural institutions. They also stressed the importance of technical and vocational education and the formation of partnerships with international universities.

The experts called for a harmonious blend of modernity and Jordanian heritage, suggesting that national identity be incorporated into the architectural design, cultural spaces, museums, and theaters within the city. They also underscored the potential of modern technology and artificial intelligence to provide high-quality services and address challenges prevalent in existing cities, such as traffic and mobility issues.

Participants further emphasized that the city should be designed to nurture talent, support innovation, and align educational and cultural initiatives with future labor market needs. They also stressed the importance of maintaining a clear vision for governance, investment, and economic development to ensure the long-term success of Amra City.

Prime Minister Opens Specialised Dialogue Sessions on Amra City Project

Amman: Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Saturday opened specialised dialogue sessions on the Amra City project, attended by more than 150 experts and specialists. The specialists include engineers, urban planners, environmentalists, and experts in transport, energy, water, economics, and investment, as well as representatives of relevant professional associations.

According to Jordan News Agency, in his opening remarks, Hassan emphasized the government’s commitment to a partnership-based approach with experts from various sectors to develop a comprehensive vision for the Amra City project. He noted that the project is a long-term and integrated urban development initiative, affirming that dialogue and consultation would continue throughout its implementation as a national project encompassing economic, investment, social, urban, and developmental dimensions.

The dialogue sessions are part of the government’s efforts to engage Jordanian expertise in shaping the project’s vision and identifying potential developments, particularly during the first phase. This phase includes productive investment projects such as an international exhibition and conference centre, an integrated sports city featuring an international football stadium, an adjacent Olympic city, and Olympic-standard halls for various sports. Work on this phase is set to begin in 2026 and continue through 2029.

During the opening session, Minister of Investment Tariq Abu Ghazaleh outlined the project’s general framework, strategic objectives, and planning and implementation pathways. He highlighted that Amra City represents a shift in urban and investment planning in the Kingdom, reflecting the state’s move towards building future cities based on proactive planning, sustainability, and integration with long-term economic growth.

Abu Ghazaleh explained that the project is part of a comprehensive national vision that transcends individual governments and embodies an economic modernization model grounded in development, urban planning, and investment. He clarified that Amra City is not a traditional urban development project nor an alternative to the capital, Amman, but an integrated developmental and investment platform hosting major investment and production projects, enhancing national economic competitiveness, reducing pressure on existing cities, improving quality of life, and creating sustainable job opportunities for future generations.

He emphasized that the specialised dialogue sessions provide a participatory platform for national experts, specialists, and youth to engage in constructive discussions aimed at producing practical recommendations. These recommendations would contribute to establishing the nucleus of a smart city adhering to sustainability standards, balancing economic needs with environmental considerations, and responding to social and developmental priorities.

Following the opening session, five specialised discussions were launched at the Prime Ministry, addressing urban development, economic impact and future technologies, water, energy and the environment, culture and education, and sports, health, and mobility. The sessions aim to gather participants’ insights and proposals to identify optimal models for developing sustainable cities, contributing to the creation of a modern green city that upholds sustainability, quality of life, and Jordanian identity while unlocking promising investment and economic opportunities.

The Prime Minister had launched the first phase of the Amra City project at the end of November with the commencement of infrastructure works, seeking to establish a new model for urban development and long-term population growth management, serving as the nucleus of a future city for youth and coming generations. Its development phases will extend over 25 years and transcend successive governments.

Experts Discuss Amra City’s Strategic Role in Economic and Technological Advancement

Amman: Experts and specialists in economics, investment, and technology on Saturday discussed the strategic importance of the Amra City project for Jordan’s economy, noting its potential to drive growth, attract investment, and stimulate technological innovation.

According to Jordan News Agency, the remarks came during a specialised dialogue session at the Prime Ministry on the project’s “Economic Impact and Future Technologies.” Participants discussed the city’s expected contributions to economic activity, investment attraction, and the role of digital tools and smart infrastructure in maximising its impact.

Experts called for prioritising projects that leverage the city’s competitive advantages, including tourism, exhibitions, and industrial clusters, and urged a unified data platform to support decision-making, incentives for private-sector investment, and housing support programmes in coordination with banks and relevant authorities.

The session focused on infrastructure and connectivity, highlighting roads, traffic management, and urban planning to ensure easy access from Amman, Queen Alia International Airport, Zarqa, and international highways connecting Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.

Participants called for providing economic opportunities to encourage Jordanians to settle in the city. Experts highlighted digital infrastructure, global academic partnerships, and workforce training in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, as key pillars for future value creation.

They suggested facilitating expatriate access and learning from global experiences to enhance the city’s implementation. The session addressed sustainability and governance of smart technologies to ensure long-term effectiveness, positioning Amra City as a potential hub for technology exports.

Key themes discussed included the city’s economic and strategic role, investment impact, macroeconomic benefits, digital infrastructure, and technology as a catalyst for growth.
