ASE Closes Slightly Higher Amid Moderate Trading Activity

Amman: The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) ended Monday’s trading session with a slight gain of 0.03 percent, closing at 2,546 points.

According to Jordan News Agency, the volume of traded shares reached approximately 3.8 million, generating a total trading value of around JOD 10.5 million from 3,049 transactions.

An analysis of traded companies showed that share prices declined for 37 firms, increased for 17, while 29 companies maintained their previous closing prices.

Abdallat noted Jordan’s emergence as a regional leader in healthcare delivery and expertise, attributing this to advanced facilities and a skilled workforce. He explained that the government’s efforts align with the King’s vision, emphasizing the modernization of the health system through reforms that prioritize service accessibility, staff training, and preventative care, with a significant focus on maternal and child health.

The National Health Strategy of Jordan, as detailed by Abdallat, prioritizes service quality, efficient governance, robust health information systems, and universal healthcare access. This strategy dovetails with national economic and administrative modernization plans.

Furthermore, Abdallat underscored Jordan’s proactive role in health diplomacy. He highlighted strategic partnerships with organizations like WHO, UNICEF, and UNHCR, which have helped Jordan become a regional hub for health expertise. Jordan is also committed to training regional medical professionals and operating field hospitals in conflict zones, reflecting the country’s belief in the universality of human health.

He stressed Jordan’s leadership in providing healthcare to refugees, bolstered by international collaboration. Abdallat cited the field hospitals in Gaza and the West Bank as testaments to Jordan’s dedication to vulnerable populations and its role as a regional peace advocate.

Finally, Abdallat affirmed Jordan’s commitment to aligning its health legislation with international human rights standards, referencing agreements such as the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on health and well-being.

Jordan Delivers Aid to 1.5M+ Gazans Amidst War, Despite Obstacles

Amman: Under Royal directives, Jordan continues to exert every effort to support Gazans facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis fueled by ongoing Israeli aggression. Despite significant hurdles, including crossing closures and a month-long halt to land aid convoys, Jordan has persisted in delivering essential support.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) has adopted alternative strategies, partnering with local Gazan organizations to ensure continuous humanitarian assistance to affected families. Jordan remains committed to reopening crossings and facilitating aid delivery through diplomatic pressure and international engagement, recognizing the dire need for food, medicine, and basic supplies.

During Eid al-Fitr, the JHCO launched humanitarian initiatives targeting Gaza’s vulnerable families. These efforts included distributing Eid clothing for children, holiday sweets, cash gifts, and Zakat al-Fitr payments to over 4,300 families, in collaboration with local partners, to bring relief and joy during the holiday.

“Despite the severe challenges and convoy disruptions, our commitment to Gazans remains unwavering,” said Hussein Shibli, JHCO Secretary-General. “We’ve reached over 1,566,144 beneficiaries within the Strip.”

“We’re exploring every possible avenue to deliver aid, guided by King Abdullah II’s directives and Jordan’s steadfast support for Palestinians,” he added. “During the crossing closures, we distributed over 220,000 meals, and provided clean water and Eid necessities to numerous families.”

Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday departed for Egypt to attend a trilateral summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron. The summit aims to address the developments occurring in Gaza.

According to Jordan News Agency, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II was sworn in as Regent, with Cabinet members present during the ceremony. The discussions in Egypt are expected to focus on the critical situation in Gaza and potential collaborative efforts between the involved nations.

Journalist Killed, Nine Injured in Gaza Amid Rising Toll on Media Professionals

Gaza: The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that the number of journalists killed in the Gaza Strip has reached 210 following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a journalists’ tent near Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The airstrike resulted in the death of journalist Hilmi al-Faqawi and injured nine other journalists in the vicinity.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Government Media Office strongly condemned what it described as the deliberate targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces. It called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and media organizations globally to denounce what it termed systematic violations against journalists operating in the Gaza Strip.

The office’s statement further urged the international community and relevant international institutions to pursue legal action against such incidents in international courts. It highlighted the urgent need for effective international intervention to halt what it described as genocide, ensure the protection of journalists and media professionals, and prevent further targeting.

Rising Casualties in Gaza as Israeli Strikes Continue

Gaza: The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 57 dead people, including one body recovered from under rubble, and 137 others injured, arrived at hospitals across the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours amid ongoing Israeli airstrikes.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry highlighted in its daily update that several victims remain trapped under debris or on roadways, inaccessible to ambulance and civil defense crews due to continued Israeli hostilities.

Since March 18, the death toll has reached 1,391, with 3,434 people injured. The cumulative toll since the onset of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023, has now reached 50,752 fatalities and 115,475 injuries, according to the Ministry.
