1 tourist facility shut down, 17 fined for health safety violations

Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ inspection teams, in cooperation with concerned authorities, shut down one facility and issued warnings and fines against 17 others, including restaurants and hotels, during the month of September for flouting public health safety measures.

The ministry said in a press release Monday that during visits to 1,020 tourist facilities across the governorates, inspection personnel warned 104 facilities and found 787 others in adherence to preventive health measures and safety standards.

It said the inspections particularly targeted shops serving the hookah, and took legal action against those who were in violation of the health protocols and regulations of the ministries of tourism and labour.

The statement urged tourist facilities and clients to observe preventive measures under the defence orders that were issued during the Covid-19 pandemic, including physical distancing, wearing masks and serving hookah in open spaces.
