ZATCA Governor Heads Saudi Arabia’s Delegation to GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Meeting

The Governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), Eng. Suhail bin Mohammed Abanmi, headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the 120th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee. The gathering took place in Muscat, Oman today.

Omani Minister of Finance Sultan Al-Habsi chaired the meeting, which was attended by GCC finance ministers and GCC Secretary General Jassem Al-Budaiwi.

During the meeting, various topics were discussed to strengthen financial and economic cooperation among the GCC countries. The committee reviewed the recommendations presented by the Undersecretaries’ Committee and examined the recent updates monitored by the General Secretariat.

The Customs Union Authority’s findings were also deliberated, with a focus on enabling it to function effectively and execute its duties through the implementation of best practices that align with the Customs Union’s prerequisites.

Addressing the committee, Eng. Abanmi expressed gratitude to Oman for its efforts in enhancing cooperation among GCC countries during its year of presidency. He emphasized the need to intensify efforts towards achieving the aspirations and hopes of GCC leaders.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of supporting GCC countries in implementing the common framework initiative launched by the Kingdom during its Group of Twenty (G20) presidency. This initiative aims to address the debt risks faced by low-income countries, especially with rising global debt and increasing risks of debt sustainability.
