Amman: The Zakat Fund's Board of Directors has approved a comprehensive plan to provide financial relief and support to various beneficiaries, including the settlement of loans for 116 indebted women and the distribution of Eid gifts. The initiative was decided during a meeting chaired by the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalaileh.
According to Jordan News Agency, the board resolved to disburse an Eid gift of JD50 to each poor and orphan family registered as beneficiaries of the fund. This amount will be deposited directly into their bank accounts alongside their regular monthly cash assistance. Additionally, the board has sanctioned the renovation of 11 homes across the country, following the completion of necessary technical assessments.
The board has also approved the settlement of outstanding debts amounting to JD80,500, specifically for 116 women who have met the fund's established criteria and standards. This decision is a significant step towards alleviating the financial burdens faced by these women.
In the realm of education, the board is set to launch the school bag project for the 2026/2027 academic year. This project aims to provide 20,000 fully equipped school bags, complete with necessary stationery supplies, to students from eligible households. The estimated cost for this initiative is capped at JD250,000.
During the meeting, Dr. Khalaileh emphasized the Zakat Fund's crucial role and expressed appreciation for the ongoing trust and financial contributions from zakat payers, donors, and other supporters of charitable initiatives. He highlighted the importance of these contributions in promoting social solidarity.
