Vaccination campaign launched with ‘clear’ message on its importance, safety

Health Minister Firas Hawari said Tuesday that targeted groups in the national vaccination campaign should get a clear message on the importance of inoculation, the safety of vaccines and the danger of the coronavirus variants.

He spoke as he patronized the second national campaign, which was launched by the Health Ministry under the slogan “do not hesitate… with the vaccine, protect yourself and them”, with the support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and in cooperation with the Royal Health Awareness Society.

“At a time when many countries faced the challenge of obtaining the Covid-19 vaccine, which was not available in the required quantities, where demand outpaced supply by dozens of times, Jordan was putting its name on the list of nations to benefit from the vaccine first,” he said.

Jordan, he noted, obtained the vaccines from producing countries in January and launched wide campaigns to encourage citizens and residents to get the jab based on the national vaccination plan and strategy approved by the Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management.

Hawari praised the efforts of the US Agency for International Development in supporting the national effort to address the Covid-19 pandemic, through various agency-funded projects and programs.

USAID Mission Director Sherry Carlin said that safe and effective vaccines are the basis to protect lives and promote Jordan’s economic recovery, which is one of the most important priorities of the United States, urging “everyone to get the vaccine when available to them.”

The campaign aims to urge all segments of society, from age group 16 years and above to register on the national vaccination platform (Vaccine.jo), and show up on the right dates and get all the doses to protect themselves and the society from infection with the serious symptoms of the coronavirus.

The campaign, which mainly targets the age group of 45 years and above, the most vulnerable to infection, is based on studies and research that were carried out at the national level to identify the concerns of citizens and residents in the Kingdom about the vaccine, and the reasons for reluctance of some to get the jabs.

It offers accurate data about the vaccines on TV and radio, internal and external ads and the various social media outlets.
