US student delegation visits human rights center

A student delegation from the American International Education Foundation Tuesday visited the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR), to learn about its work mechanism and role in protecting and promoting the culture of human rights.

Reem Abu Dalbouh, NCHR member of the Board of Trustees, gave a briefing on the center’s law, organizational structure and powers assigned to it as an independent national institution monitoring human rights and dealing with complaints concerning rights and freedoms.

Dalbouh said the center issues statements on human rights issues when needed, and attaches paramount importance to groups most in need of protection, including women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

She also noted that royal directives had led to the modernization of the political system in a way that enhanced the participation of women and youth in public life.
