Northern badia: The Arab World Center for Democratic Development (UNIHRD), in partnership with the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Germany's Hanns Seidel Foundation, held a workshop on Monday focused on enhancing participation in local administration elections.
According to Jordan News Agency, the session was hosted in Jordan's Northern Badia region at the Child Care Charitable Association and is part of a broader national effort to strengthen community-based political empowerment and developmental pathways. Samah Bani Hani, UNIHRD Program Director, emphasized that the workshop aimed to address emerging issues on the national stage, particularly those related to local administration and the electoral process. The initiative seeks to ensure citizens are equipped to engage with modern governance structures.
This meeting is part of a series of dialogues the ministry is conducting to encourage greater political engagement across the kingdom. Moath Al-Khalidi, Head of the Coordination and Liaison Officers Department at the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, stated that these discussions are vital for building a collaborative environment between the government and civil society.
Al-Khalidi added that the workshop included a detailed dialogue regarding legislative amendments currently being prepared for the upcoming elections. Participants discussed proposed changes scheduled for the House of Representatives' agenda, following government announcements that the draft law is now in its final stages.
The session concluded with an emphasis on the importance of aligning local administration laws with Jordan's broader political modernization goals to ensure inclusive representation at the municipal level.
