Amman: UN Women representative in Jordan Nicolas Burniat visited the Royal Jordanian Navy (RJN), receiving a warm welcome from the force commander and the Director of Military Women Affairs within the Jordan Armed Forces.
According to Jordan News Agency, the delegation was briefed on the RJN’s efforts to empower women and integrate gender perspectives into naval military operations. Discussions during the visit centered on strengthening cooperation to enhance the role of women in the military sector.
The meeting underscored the significance of partnerships with international organizations to exchange expertise and knowledge, supporting initiatives aimed at promoting women’s responsibilities and roles in various fields.
Burniat commended the RJN’s initiatives in women’s empowerment and reinforced the commitment to collaborate with the Jordan Armed Forces to advocate for gender equality and women’s advancement, particularly in the maritime sector.
These initiatives are part of Jordan’s National Action Plan for implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security (JONAP), which incorporates a gender integration strategy as a national policy framework within the Armed Forces. This reflects Jordan’s ongoing dedication to national and regional security and stability.
