Fujairah: Authorities in Fujairah announced on Monday that a fire broke out in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) following a drone strike launched from Iran, as civil defense teams moved to contain the blaze.
According to Jordan News Agency, the United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attack in a statement published by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), describing it as a "terrorist act." The statement also revealed that an oil tanker belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) was targeted by two Iranian drones while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported in the maritime incident.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the aggression constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes the freedom of navigation and prohibits the targeting of commercial vessels or the disruption of international shipping lanes.
In a related development, Emirati air defenses successfully intercepted four missiles launched from Iran on Monday. Military officials confirmed that three missiles were neutralized over the country's territorial waters, while a fourth fell into the sea.
The escalation follows a series of regional tensions, with the UAE affirming its right to take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and industrial infrastructure from external threats.
