Trade Ministry to Intensify Market Monitoring During Eid Period

Amman: The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply has announced a comprehensive monitoring and inspection plan targeting economic and commercial activities across the Kingdom's governorates as Eid al-Adha approaches. The initiative is designed to maintain market stability, ensure establishments comply with regulations, and protect consumer rights.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry's statement on Tuesday confirmed that the plan will see an intensification of inspection tours by its teams, in alignment with the Industry, Trade and Supply Law. The initiative also aims to enhance channels for receiving citizen complaints, ensuring they are addressed promptly and professionally before and during the Eid holiday.

The monitoring will encompass various commercial and service sectors, with a primary focus on bakeries to ensure adherence to official pricing. Popular restaurants and livestock markets will also be scrutinized to confirm compliance with price lists and the clear display of costs for consumers. Additionally, stores selling fresh red meat and poultry will be under surveillance, with the Ministry of Agriculture deploying inspection teams to verify product availability and adherence to pricing regulations.

The inspection teams will supervise shops selling desserts, furniture, electrical appliances, and prepaid mobile phone cards. The ministry emphasized that the clothing and footwear sectors will face strict oversight to ensure the legality of discounts and promotional offers during the Eid period.

In the energy sector, teams will monitor fuel stations and domestic gas cylinder distribution centers to ensure they comply with official pricing. The ministry has urged citizens to report any market or commercial activity concerns through a dedicated landline, WhatsApp, or email. The ministry assured that its inspection teams handle all reports and complaints with promptness and professionalism.
