Ayla Hosts Padel Tournament to Boost Jordan’s Sports Sector

Aqaba: The Ayla Oasis Development Company recently hosted a padel tournament in collaboration with Padel Sanctuary and the Jordanian padel application Viltic, marking a significant step towards enhancing the sport's presence in Jordan.

According to Jordan News Agency, the tournament featured over 40 players from Jordan and the United Arab Emirates competing in the 1900-level category. The event saw a strong audience turnout, with 200 to 300 visitors attending over the two days of competition, highlighting the sport's rising popularity in the Kingdom.

Maan Abu Sheikha and Mohammad Ababneh emerged as champions, while Omar Safadi and Aoun Bateekhi secured second place. Abdul Rahman Falah and Abdul-Ilah Falah claimed third place after a series of intense matches showcasing participants' technical skills.

The tournament's closing ceremony was attended by representatives from Ayla management, sponsors, and partners. Awards were presented by Ayla Public Relations Manager Mansour Kabariti, who emphasized Ayla's commitment to hosting high-profile sporting events that boost sports and tourism in Aqaba. He noted that the event aligns with Ayla's vision of offering integrated lifestyle and sports experiences, reinforcing Aqaba's status on the regional sports map.

Director of Padel Sanctuary Joud Abu Shahab expressed satisfaction with the event, pointing to the enthusiastic participation of local and international players and the significant spectator turnout as evidence of padel's expanding community in Jordan.

Organizers announced that the tournament will continue with a second stage for the 2400-level category, featuring 40 elite players, including professional coaches from Jordan and Argentina and members of the Jordanian national padel team. The event is supported by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Aqaba Development Corporation, and Bank al Etihad, along with several sponsors and partners.
