Amman: The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, alongside the Jordan Tourism Board, collaborated with the Jordanian Embassy in Tokyo to host a reception celebrating the 80th anniversary of Jordan's independence. The event attracted Japanese officials, diplomats, business representatives, and tourism stakeholders, all gathered to honor the national milestone.
According to Jordan News Agency, Jordan's Ambassador to Japan, Nasser Shraideh, addressed the attendees, highlighting Jordan's achievements under Hashemite leadership over the past eighty years. He emphasized the nation's stability and development and underscored the robust relationship between Jordan and Japan. Shraideh advocated for ongoing collaboration in political, economic, social, scientific, and cultural domains.
Representing the Japanese government, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Yohei Onishi attended the reception, alongside other senior officials, Japanese parliament members, and representatives from various sectors, including investment, tourism, civil society, academia, and media. Also present were members of the diplomatic corps in Japan and the Jordanian community.
The event showcased presentations on Jordan's tourism and investment opportunities, particularly focusing on its UNESCO-listed archaeological and historical sites such as Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and the Baptism Site. Jordan's appeal in adventure, medical, wellness, religious, and cultural tourism was also highlighted, supported by its well-developed tourism infrastructure.
Additionally, the Jordan Tourism Board discussed strategies to enhance Jordan's visibility in the Japanese market during a session with travel agencies, tour operators, and companies specializing in trips between Japan and Jordan. The discussions aimed at fostering cooperation, expanding travel programs, and attracting more Japanese tourists to Jordan.
