Supermoon graces Jordan’s skies on Tuesday

Jordan is set to witness a celestial spectacle on Tuesday as the Supermoon graces the night sky. Astronomers anticipate a 14% larger and 30% brighter moon, offering a rare and captivating astronomical event for citizens and enthusiasts alike. Astronomer Imad Mujahed, a distinguished member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Britain, highlighted the unique features of the Supermoon, emphasizing its impressive size and illuminating brightness. "The Supermoon, in its full phase (full moon), is expected to shine in all its splendor at approximately 9:31 PM local time," he said, inviting everyone to witness the magic of this cosmic marvel. Mujahed explained that the term "Supermoon" is coined when a full moon coincides with its closest approach to Earth. This alignment creates an optical illusion, making the moon appear larger and more radiant to onlookers. Assuring the public, he dispelled any concerns regarding adverse effects, affirming that the Supermoon poses no negative impacts on daily life or geological processes. Instead, it will primarily lead to slightly higher tides in the world's oceans, a phenomenon that seafarers and coastal residents may notice as a gentle rise in sea levels. The Astronomer encouraged enthusiasts and photographers to seize the opportunity and capture the remarkable event, especially during the magical moments of sunset when the Supermoon rises prominently from the eastern horizon against the backdrop of architectural landmarks, towering structures, lush trees, and picturesque landscapes. "This stunning display will cast an extraordinary glow over the Earth, presenting a rare opportunity for sky-watchers to revel in the awe-inspiring sight," he noted.
