Jeddah: Jordan’s energy regulator is pushing to energize electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the northern region. Ziad Al-Saaydeh, Chairman of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC), convened with sector leaders yesterday to map out strategies for boosting investment and development in this burgeoning sector.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, held at EMRC headquarters, brought together Mohammad Al-Shouha, Head of the Irbid Chamber of Commerce, Bashar Al-Tamimi, Director General of the Irbid Electricity Company, alongside key EV charging investors and EMRC officials.
An EMRC statement released Tuesday confirmed Al-Saaydeh’s commitment to refining licensing processes for charging stations and enhancing grid integration mechanisms. This strategic thrust aims to improve service efficiency, keep pace with the swift rise in EV ownership, and cultivate a robust, enduring investment climate.
Al-Saaydeh assured participants that the EMRC would carefully weigh all feedback and proposals from the session, coordinating with relevant bodies to address concerns and advance the vital sector.
Mohammad Al-Shouha emphasized the need for refined operational frameworks to bolster both existing and nascent charging ventures, fostering an environment ripe for network expansion. Engineer Al-Tamimi, on his part, pledged ongoing cooperation, offering technical support and clearing bureaucratic hurdles.
Al-Saaydeh lauded the productive engagement with the Irbid Chamber of Commerce and the Irbid Electricity Company, underscoring that the EV charging sector’s long-term health hinges on seamless collaboration across all stakeholders.
The meeting also saw participation from EMRC directors spanning electricity, renewable energy, petroleum derivatives, judicial enforcement, internal audit, and financial and administrative affairs, among other specialized staff.
