Social Development Minister Inaugurates Emergency Aid Service

Amman: Minister of Social Development and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Aid Fund (NAF), Wafa Bani Mustafa, announced ongoing efforts to reduce the burden on the fund’s beneficiaries and impoverished households by enhancing their access to integrated digital services through the NAF’s digital transformation.

According to Jordan News Agency, the inauguration of the Emergency Aid Service signals the implementation of the Jordan Social Protection Strategy (2025-2033). This service addresses six critical situations: fire, death, forced loss of income, academic excellence, dispute-related tribal relocation, and imprisonment of the household head.

Bani Mustafa emphasized that the e-service is accessible via an online platform for all eligible groups. She highlighted that NAF beneficiaries and other needy families can apply “easily and conveniently” to this service, which aims to meet the immediate needs of families in exceptional circumstances.

She further revealed that over 400 requests for emergency cash assistance are received monthly by the NAF. The new platform enables applicants to submit and register online, eliminating the necessity of visiting the fund’s branches nationwide.

The minister acknowledged the partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy in implementing this service, noting NAF’s efforts to streamline cash assistance delivery to eligible groups “with less effort and in a shorter time.”

NAF Director General, Khitam Shneikat, stated that the service supports the public sector’s digital transformation roadmap and endeavors to enhance service quality. Shneikat noted that the digital shift in NAF’s services would ease the burden on needy households, with 80% of required data sourced from the Unified National Registry. The service will adhere to governed procedures, offering assistance within a minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 7 days for incomplete cases.
