The 12th session of the Statistical Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia on October 3rd and 4th. The event will take place in Jeddah and will be attended by heads of official statistical centres from OIC States.
The Kingdom's international standing and its significance in the Arab and Islamic world are highlighted by the hosting of this event, which is the first of its kind outside Turkiye. Moreover, the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing communication and cooperation among Islamic countries is evident through sharing statistical data and experiences to support their development plans.
The 12th session aims to improve the technical and scientific skills of statistical personnel working in the official statistics organizations of member states. It will promote the exchange of expertise and statistical knowledge to produce high-quality statistics. Specific goals and principles will be provided to encourage solidarity and cooperation among Islamic countries.
The agenda includes various events and activities that promote the production and dissemination of reliable statistical data and indicators using internationally recognized methodologies and standards. It also aims to formulate a strategic vision for enhancing statistical systems and devising short, medium, and long-term plans to achieve this vision. Furthermore, the agenda emphasizes the need to improve the technical capabilities of national statistical agencies in Islamic countries.
