United nations: United Nations envoy to Colombia, Miroslav Jenca, on Monday strongly condemned recent attacks in southwest Colombia attributed by authorities to the illegal armed group known as the EMC.
According to Jordan News Agency, Jenca, in an official statement, called for an immediate de-escalation of violence and urged all parties to show respect for the civilian population. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia also denounced the attacks.
The office issued a call for armed groups to adhere to international humanitarian law and demanded that those responsible for the violence be brought to justice.
