Amman: Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi met with U.S. Special Envoy for Syria and Ambassador to Turkey, Thomas Barrett, ahead of a joint Jordanian-Syrian-U.S. meeting focused on the crisis in Syria. The discussions centered on efforts to stabilize southern Syria, particularly in Sweida Governorate, through upholding the ceasefire and supporting a political resolution to the conflict.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi and Barrett reaffirmed the strength of the strategic Jordan-U.S. partnership and their continued commitment to cooperation across political, economic, and security domains. They emphasized the importance of supporting Syria’s reconstruction in a way that preserves the country’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people and ensuring the safety and rights of all Syrians.
Safadi expressed appreciation for the United States’ leadership in advancing these efforts and stressed Jordan’s commitment to working closely with Washington to help achieve lasting stability in Syria.
