Amman: Run Jordan has commenced preparations for the 29th edition of the Ultra Marathon Dead Sea, scheduled for Friday, April 11, under the patronage of His Highness Prince Firas bin Raad, Chairperson of the Association’s Board of Directors.
According to Jordan News Agency, the marathon will be held under the slogan “Run in the Lowest Spot in the World,” organized in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality and sponsored by Jordan Bromine, along with a group of supporting companies. In a press statement issued Tuesday, Run Jordan emphasized the marathon’s significance as a premier sporting event on both local and international levels. The event underscores the association’s commitment to promoting sports awareness and encouraging a healthy lifestyle while positioning Jordan as a distinguished sports tourism destination due to its unique location at the Dead Sea.
Prince Firas bin Raad commended the association’s efforts in fostering a culture of sports and highlighted the importance of international races in enhancing Jordan’s standing in global sporting events. He also lauded the Greater Amman Municipality’s continued support, describing its partnership with the association as both sustainable and impactful.
Director General of Run Jordan Lina Kurd expressed appreciation to the Greater Amman Municipality and all supporting institutions for their contributions to the marathon’s success. She underscored the significance of sponsorship, particularly from Jordan Bromine, in reinforcing the country’s reputation as a global sports hub.
This year’s marathon routes have been officially measured and accredited by an International Federation delegate, with certification valid until 2027. The event features multiple race categories: 50 km Ultra Marathon (individual and relay); 21 km Half Marathon; 21 km Half Marathon for participants with disabilities (visual impairment and wheelchair users); 10 km Race; and 10 km Race for participants with disabilities (visual impairment and wheelchair users).
Additionally, the Children’s Race will take place on Friday, April 18, at Al Hussein Gardens, offering young participants the chance to engage in this distinguished sporting event.
