Amman: Representatives of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) on Wednesday discussed prospects for expanding cooperation with an Indian delegation in technology and scientific research during a meeting attended by Indian Ambassador to Jordan Manish Chauhan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the two sides explored opportunities to strengthen partnerships in technological innovation, solar energy, water desalination, recycling, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and advanced computing, with a focus on knowledge transfer and expertise exchange.
Both parties emphasized the need to develop "sustainable" cooperation programs that align with development priorities and keep pace with rapid advances in scientific and technological sectors. The meeting also proposed activating student and academic exchange programs between Jordanian and Indian universities, as well as joint workshops and research projects aimed at deepening institutional cooperation and opening new avenues for future partnerships.
The discussions further highlighted the importance of directing cooperation towards achieving market-oriented and practical solutions. This includes linking scientific research outputs with the needs of productive sectors and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship.
During the meeting, RSS Vice President for Technology Nabeel Fayoumi outlined the technological requirements and solutions utilized to automate operational processes and data management across the society's sectors, emphasizing measures to protect information systems and data. Fayoumi noted the society's role in providing technical consultancy and support to various sectors in Jordan and its contribution to developing advanced software solutions tailored to institutional needs, thereby improving efficiency and digital services.
PSUT President Wejdan Abu Elhaija showcased the university's academic programs, particularly highlighting emerging disciplines in cybersecurity programs designed to meet the growing demand driven by rapid digital transformation.
Meanwhile, Indian Deputy National Security Adviser TV Ravichandran praised the advanced capabilities of the RSS and PSUT in areas such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. He remarked that these achievements reflect sustained efforts to strengthen Jordan's technological infrastructure and research capabilities and underscored the importance of building on these achievements through broader cooperation and expertise exchange to advance critical technology sectors.
