Amman: Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited the University of Jordan, where she participated in an event to mark the Royal Health Awareness Society’s (RHAS) 20th anniversary.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event, themed ‘Twenty Years of Giving to the Community,’ was held at the University of Jordan’s library and celebrated RHAS’s accomplishments since its establishment in 2005. The society has played a significant role in raising health awareness and empowering individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles, growing into a globally recognized organization that contributes to various international health steering committees.
Queen Rania was welcomed by University President Dr. Nathir Obeidat, RHAS Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Rami Farraj, and RHAS Director Amal Ireifij. During her visit, she explored the RHAS Journey Tunnel, which highlighted the organization’s evolution since 2005, and the Partners Wall, an installation recognizing key institutional partners and supporters.
The Queen participated in a student-led session on mental health awareness, underscoring RHAS’s focus on youth psychosocial well-being. She also visited several interactive booths that provided sensory experiences related to RHAS’s programs on mental health, nutrition, physical activity, chronic diseases, family medicine, and smoking prevention. The four-day anniversary event aims to engage students and visitors with RHAS’s initiatives and bolster efforts to promote health awareness and prevention.
While at the university, Queen Rania also visited the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching with President Obeidat to observe the Educational Content Digitization Project. This project seeks to transform academic material delivery by replacing traditional lecture formats with visually rich digital content.
Accompanied by the center’s Director Dr. Raed Al-Taher, Her Majesty toured the production lab and attended a digitized interactive dentistry lecture by Dr. Aseel Al-Shraireh. Dr. Obeidat explained that the project, launched in 2024, focuses on enhancing interactive learning using modern methods aligned with international best practices. The initiative aims to convert curricula into advanced interactive platforms, improving learning experiences and faculty performance. The University of Jordan has started digitizing content for over 280 undergraduate degrees, 2,700 courses, and numerous learning materials.
