Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials on Monday HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s patronage of the opening ceremony of the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha, in the presence of a number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies heads of state and government, along with representatives of brotherly and friendly countries.

The Qatari dailies underlined the importance of Expo 2023 Doha in improving agricultural and food sectors by presenting the latest technologies used in environmental sustainability and agricultural technology in order to achieve food security which is one of the local and global priorities. The exhibition also offer participants an opportunity to exchange experiences and follow the details of the latest developments in this vital, important sector.

Under the headline “Expo 2023 Doha… Exceptional Edition of Global Event”, Al-Sharq said that with the participation of more than 80 countries and non-governmental organizations, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will patronize today the opening ceremony of the 2023 Doha Horticulture Expo, in the presence of a number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies heads of state and government, along with representatives of brotherly and friendly countries, at the Expo site in Al Bidda Park.

Held under the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment”, the Expo forms an opportunity and international platform for participants, stakeholders, decision-makers, non-governmental organizations and experts to discuss innovative solutions that address water shortages, desertification problems, environmental problems and sustainability challenges, Al-Sharq noted.

Al-Sharq indicated that Expo 2023 Doha will engage the international community, unify its ranks, and provide effective contributions in order to achieve a sustainable future, promote the concept of green cities in the Middle East region, and encourage innovation with a focus on the elements of climate, water and soil in the State of Qatar, as said by HE Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie, the Minister of Municipality and Chairman of the National Committee for Expo 2023 Doha.

Expo 2023 Doha is expected to be a major turning point in facing global agricultural and environmental challenges, as it represents a platform for leading change and raising awareness among the international community of the importance of striving to find effective solutions to the problems of desertification, climate change and sustainability challenges, the paper added.

Doha is expected to host an exceptional and unique edition of this global event which is expected to attract more than 3 million visitors. This is not strange for Doha which has become a global capital for organizing major events. It will dazzle the world at Expo 2023 Doha, just as it did when it organized the 2022 World Cup, Al-Sharq concluded.

In its editorial entitled “Most Prominent Event on the 2023 Calendar”, Al-Arab said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will patronize today the opening ceremony of the Expo 2023 Doha, in the presence of a number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies heads of state and government, along with representatives of brotherly and friendly countries, at the Expo site in Al Bidda Park.

There is no doubt that Expo 2023 Doha is the most important on the 2023 calendar of events, with a broad international participation that is the largest in the history of all previous editions of International Horticultural Expo, Al-Arab stressed.

Qatar’s hosting of the International Horticultural Expo 2023 over 6 months is in line with the great interest that the State of Qatar attaches to the agricultural sector and food security based on the plans and programs derived from Qatar National Vision 2030; and in line with the great efforts the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has been making in recent years to provide all types of support and assistance to encourage and stimulate agriculture producers as partners in achieving food security, the paper concluded.
