Doha: In their editorials on Sunday, Qatari newspapers highlighted the intense diplomatic efforts of the State of Qatar to de-escalate tensions in the region, particularly the escalation in Lebanon and the joint mediation efforts to end the ongoing war in Gaza.
The newspaper emphasized that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only solution to put an end to wars and conflicts.
On the local front, the newspapers underscored the importance of the message conveyed by educators regarding building generations and advancing the nation, noting that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is actively working on various initiatives and features to increase the proportion of Qatari personnel in the teaching profession across all schools in the country.
Al-Sharq in its editorial, said that the State of Qatar continues its intensive diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, especially the escalation in Lebano
n and the joint mediation efforts to end the ongoing war in Gaza.
In this context, the editorial noted the recent meeting between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Noel Barrot who is currently visiting the country, in addition to the phone call with HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken. The discussions with the two ministers focused on the latest developments in the region, especially in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, and ways to de-escalate tensions in Lebanon, the newspaper explained.
Al-Sharq concluded by noting that despite the significant challenges, Qatar spares no effort in racing against time, collaborating with all partners to resolve ongoing conflicts through peaceful means, in order to avoid a comprehensive regional war.
In turn, Al-Watan newspaper stressed that the situation in the region underscores that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state withi

The newspaper called on the international community to take action by implementing concrete steps to give Palestinians hope that the project for an independent state has not died, and that the two-state solution is not merely empty rhetoric, as it was before the outbreak of the war in Gaza. The first step on this path should be to expand recognition of the Palestinian state as a means to embody its presence on the ground, and to grant this state full membership in the United Nations.
Al-Watan concluded by expressing regret that the position of the international community has not matched the gravity of the situation, pointing out that this inability to confront the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza has emboldened Israel to extend the conflict to the West Bank and then to Lebanon, which could lead to extremely dangerous repercussions that could have been avoided long ago by advancing towards the desired
Palestinian state.
