Doha: In their Sunday editorials, Qatari newspapers addressed several topics, most notably the strong strategic relations between the State of Qatar and the French Republic, their ongoing coordination, and their constant commitment to supporting bilateral relations, noting the arrival of the Qatari security force in Paris to participate in securing the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics as it reflects the strength of their bilateral relations and keenness to enhance cooperation in all fields.

In another matter, the newspapers praised Qatar’s position as a tourist, artistic, and cultural destination, noting that the tourism sector is one of the most important pillars of Qatar’s economic diversification and a fundamental contributor to its sustainable growth. Over recent years, the country has become an ideal tourist destination for visitors and those seeking diversity and experiences that blend the past, present, and future.

On the Arab front, the newspapers highlighted Qatar’s steadfast and supportive stan
ce towards the Palestinian people and their just cause, and its relentless efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by the Palestinian people until they regain all their inalienable legitimate rights. Qatar strongly condemned on Saturday the horrific attack by Israeli occupation forces that targeted tents of displaced people in Al Mawasi area in Khan Yunis, describing it as a shocking brutal massacre and a new episode in the continuous series of crimes by the occupation against the Palestinian people and humanity as a whole. The repeated heinous crimes of the occupation prove the urgent need for immediate international action to end this blatant aggression.

Al-Arab newspaper said that Qatar and France are linked by a strong and continuously growing strategic partnership. This partnership is characterized by continuous coordination, thanks to the political will of the leadership of both countries their mutual visits at various levels, and their shared commitment to supporting and enhancing bilateral relations
in all fields to benefit both countries and their friendly people.

In this context, the newspaper added that the arrival of the Qatari security force in France to participate in securing the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics from Jul. 26 to Sep. 8 reflects the strength of the relationship between both nations and their keenness to enhance cooperation in all fields, including security. This was confirmed by HE Ambassador of the French Republic to the State of Qatar Jean-Baptiste Faivre who pointed out that the relations between the two countries have reached the level of strategic partnership and cooperation at various levels.

Al-Arab concluded by saying that it is necessary to note what the French ambassador emphasized about the importance of the strategic dialogue between Qatar and France, which is an important mechanism for enhancing productive and constructive cooperation between the two countries, agreeing on a joint action plan for the coming years. Preparations for the third strategic dialogue are u
nderway in the French capital, Paris, in the coming months.

In a similar context, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula said that with less than two weeks remaining for the start of the global sports extravaganza, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Qatar has again emerged as a key player this time off the field.

Under the title “Assisting the Olympic Hosts”, the newspaper indicated that a team of fully equipped Qatari security forces arrived on Friday in Paris to assist the host nation in securing the French capital for the Summer Olympics as well as the Paralympic Games. The participation reflects the strength of the growing strategic partnership between Qatar and France, especially in the security field, following a landmark cooperation agreement signed between the two countries in February.

HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani had met with the team of security officials before their departure to France, encouragin
g them to leverage their skills and extensive experience, which they gained through the hosting of several major global sporting events. The smooth flow of those events highlighted the capabilities of Qatari security forces which helped them gain global recognition, which eventually paved the way for their latest assignment on foreign soil, the paper highlighted.

In conclusion, The Peninsula said that the Qatari forces will support the French security officials with units such as the Special Unit (Lfdaweia), Personal Protection Unit, Tracking Unit, Explosives Disposal Unit, Cyber-security Unit, security patrols, mounted patrols, anti-drone teams, planning teams, logistics teams, airport security teams, as well as setting up a command and control center and the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC).
