In Arab affairs, under the headline “Khan Younis Massacre and Continuation of Genocide,” Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that despite United Nations Security Council resolutions, orders issued by the International Court of Justice, and international and regional condemnations, the ext
remist right-wing Israeli government continues to commit more genocidal crimes against the Palestinian people, disregarding calls for a ceasefire and the protection of civilians. The latest of these horrific crimes was the massacre carried out by Israeli occupation forces in Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip on Saturday, targeting displaced persons’ camps. This resulted in 90 martyrs, half of whom were children and women, and 300 others injured.

This shocking and brutal massacre comes at a time when the world is looking toward the intensive efforts being made by the joint mediation of the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States to reach a ceasefire agreement. This makes the massacre an inexplicable step other than as an attempt to thwart these efforts and indicates the Israeli government’s unwillingness to halt its brutal aggression against the Palestinian people, the newspaper added.

Al-Sharq concluded by saying that it is time for immediate action by internatio
nal institutions to hold the criminal Israeli entity accountable for its brutal and horrific violations against the Palestinian people, to put an end to this occupying entity’s disregard for international and humanitarian laws, and to compel it to respect international legitimacy resolutions.

For its part, under the headline “Principled Positions,” Al-Watan newspaper highlighted in its editorial the State of Qatar’s steadfast and supportive stance towards the Palestinian people and their just cause and its tireless efforts to work to alleviate the difficulties facing the Palestinian people, until they regain all their legitimate and inalienable rights.

In this regard, the newspaper emphasized Qatar’s strong condemnation of the horrific attack by Israeli occupation forces targeting the tents of displaced persons in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of unarmed civilians, considering it a shocking and brutal massacre and a new chapter in the o
ngoing series of crimes by the occupation against the Palestinian people and humanity as a whole.

Qatar reiterated that the repeated heinous crimes of the occupation, within the context of its continuous war on Gaza, underscore the urgent need for immediate international action to end this brutal aggression and provide protection for the Palestinian people, it noted.
