Doha: In their editorials on Monday, Qatari newspapers warned of the continuation of the tragedy of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip as the Israeli genocide war continues, amid a dangerous escalation in the region that threatens severe consequences for regional and global security and stability. This comes after the Israeli occupation launched preemptive strikes on Lebanon early yesterday.
The newspapers also highlighted the preparations for the new academic year 2024-2025 in public schools, continuing the successful approach followed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), noting that schools are preparing to welcome more than 131,000 students on Sep. 1.
Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that the tragedy of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continues with the ongoing Israeli genocide war, pointing out that over the past 24 hours, the occupation forces committed three massacres against families in the Strip, resulting in 71 martyrs and 112 injured. Thousands of victims remain
under the rubble and in the streets, as ambulance and civil defense teams are unable to reach them.
The newspaper underlined that the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza has worsened as the Ministry of Health in the Strip announced that 60% of essential medicines and 83% of medical supplies have run out, which will lead to a complete halt of medical services.
Al-Watan concluded by referring to Deputy Special Representative of United Nations Development Program’s (UNDP) Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People Chitose Noguchi’s statement to Qatar News Agency in which she warned of the deterioration of health crisis in the Gaza Strip, and said that there are more than a million people who are affected by hepatitis and diarrhea diseases, in addition to the increasing cases of poliomyelitis caused by the contamination of wastewater. She also stressed that the situation in the Gaza Strip is extremely critical.
Meanwhile, Al-Sharq daily said that the rapid and serious developments in southern Lebanon are a
clear indication of the risks posed by irresponsible escalation in the region, particularly in light of the ongoing Gaza crisis and the repeated Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people in the Strip. The newspaper emphasized that the genocide war against the Palestinian people can only lead to new hotspots of tension and violence, threatening to engulf the entire region in a cycle of war and destruction.
The paper called on the international community to take a serious stance, in accordance with international law, to respond to the actions of the Israeli government and its policy of collective punishment against the defenseless residents of Gaza. It urged for international protection for the Palestinian people, an end to the horrific war on the Strip, and a concerted effort to find a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian cause .
In conclusion, Al-Sharq affirmed that peace in Palestine is the only solution to maintaining security and stability in the region and preventing the escalation of
the crisis, which could have severe consequences if it continues to expand.
