In its editorial titled “Pioneering Qatari Efforts in Achieving Environmental Sustainability,” Al-Raya newspaper highlighted Qatar’s commitment to addressing global environmental challenges and in its dedication to achieving its National Vision 2030. To this end, the State attaches great importance to the issue of climate change, maintaining the preservation of environment and its development as one of the State’s main pillars.

Qatar undertakes numerous projects and initiatives that contribute to creating a suitable environment that reduces pollutants and lowers carbon dioxide emissions. Qatar also reaffirms its commitment to continuing its efforts with international partners to combat climate change and preserve the environment, thus contributing to achieving environmental sustainability. The State has set out future plans and visions for sustainable development, based on which a climate change action plan was developed to create a sound management that helps in preserving the environment, Al-Raya said.

Qa
tar’s efforts in addressing climate change and preserving the environment are strengthened through raising environmental awareness, enhancing community participation, and maintaining environmental quality while conserving its resources for future generations through an effective regulatory framework, Al-Raya noted.

Qatar was among the first countries to join the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 1996, the Kyoto Protocol in 2005, and the Paris Agreement in 2016, which it ratified in 2017, Al-Raya concluded.

Commenting on another topic, English newspaper, The Peninsula, highlighted the Qatari national team’s journey in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers third round this month.

It turned out to be a sluggish beginning for Al Annabi. It came out with just a solitary point from its two home and away games placed in fifth place of the six-nation Group A, The Peninsula said in its editorial titled “Qatars Road to 26 Campaign”.

The draw has made the task for Qatar a bit more difficult
but with eight matches left there is still plenty of room to make a comeback in this stage of qualifiers which will continue until June next year, it added.

Qatar will meet Kyrgyzstan on October 10 and will face Iran five days in their two matches next month, The Peninsula concluded.
