Public Holiday Declared for Hijri New Year on June 16

Amman: Prime Minister Jafar Hassan has issued an official communiqu© declaring Tuesday, June 16, a public holiday to mark the Hijri New Year.

According to Jordan News Agency, the holiday will coincide with the first day of Muharram 1448 AH and will apply to all ministries, government departments, public institutions and agencies, public universities, municipalities, joint services councils, the Greater Amman Municipality, and companies fully owned by the government.

The communiqu© specifies that the holiday does not apply to ministries, government departments, and institutions whose work necessitates continued operations.

To commemorate the occasion, Hassan has urged all relevant entities to highlight the significance of the Hijri New Year in an appropriate manner.
