Amman: The Public Security Directorate (PSD) launched a series of nationwide awareness activities on Monday to mark World Traffic Day and Arab Traffic Week, deploying personnel across all governorates simultaneously to promote road safety.
According to Jordan News Agency, operating under the slogan "Slow Down, We Are Waiting for You," this year's campaign aims to deliver a clear message on the necessity of adhering to traffic regulations. The initiative focuses on curbing dangerous driving violations and fostering a preventative traffic culture to create a more informed society.
The activities, executed by traffic departments in coordination with the Media Department and Community Policing, are part of the PSD's broader strategy to elevate awareness among drivers and pedestrians. By reinforcing a culture of compliance with traffic laws and systems, authorities aim to reduce the erroneous behaviors that lead to fatal accidents.
Field operations on Monday included a widespread presence of officers on major roads to distribute educational brochures. These materials emphasize the importance of following traffic instructions and avoiding high-risk maneuvers, while officers provide direct guidance to motorists and commuters.
As part of the outreach, traffic and community policing officers joined students during morning assemblies at various schools. Officers delivered lectures designed to instill traffic safety concepts and positive behavioral habits in younger generations from an early age.
The Public Security Directorate affirmed that it will continue to implement these educational and field programs across the kingdom. In collaboration with various stakeholders, the directorate plans to host further events to strengthen the national traffic safety framework and raise awareness across all segments of society.
