Princess Basma Highlights Community Initiatives, Supports Women’s Empowerment During Amman Charity Visit

Amman: Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal, President of the Higher Committee of the Goodwill Campaign, visited the That Al-Nitaqain Charitable Society in Amman’s Tabarbour district to review its community programs and extend support for its initiatives benefiting orphans, underprivileged families, and local women.

According to Jordan News Agency, Princess Basma was accompanied by Farah Daghistani, Executive Director of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD). During the visit, she was briefed on the society’s activities, including an orphan sponsorship program, assistance to households headed by women, and an income-generating kitchen run by local women.

Her Highness focused on a food waste reduction initiative implemented by the society with area restaurants. The program salvages surplus food from events, repackages it, and distributes it to families in need. Princess Basma praised this effort as a significant commitment to humanitarian and environmental conservation.

The Goodwill Campaign has provided financial backing to support the food waste reduction initiative. Princess Basma emphasized its role in contributing to food security and reducing waste.

Furthering the Campaign’s commitment, Her Highness announced support for three women heading households in the area. This assistance will enable them to establish income-generating projects, supplemented by training in economic empowerment skills and e-marketing.

During the visit, Her Highness also helped distribute food parcels from the Goodwill Campaign to 50 female heads of households in the community.

Society President Amal Al-Hasson highlighted the organization’s programs. Established in 1991, the society sponsors 300 orphans and provides monthly financial aid to 82 families. It also operates a productive kitchen, a community hall, a clothing recycling program, and a women’s club.
