Price of 21-karat gold hits JD41.40 per gramme in local market

Prices of 21-karat gold, the highest demand at local market, stood at JD41.40 per gramme, as purchasing price, against JD39.50 as selling price, an official said Wednesday.

Jordan Jewelers Association’s Secretary General, Ribhy Allan, told Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the price of 24-karat and 18-karat gold amounted to JD48.40 and JD37 respectively.

The price of a Rashadi lira, weighing seven grammes, stood at JD291, while an English lira, which weighs eight grammes reached JD332, Allan said.

Allan said that the association constantly follows up on price developments in the global market in order to inform citizens on them through its daily bulletin, which may change according to the global market variables.

He added that gold prices in global markets on Wednesday reached $2,045 per ounce.

Gold prices are approaching its historical threshold, recorded in August 2020 during the Covid-19 crisis, at $2,074 per ounce.
