Police Warn of Unstable Weather Conditions Across Southern Regions

Aqaba: The Public Security Directorate (PSD) issued a warning about unstable weather conditions expected to sweep across the southern regions, including Aqaba, starting Wednesday. The announcement highlighted the likelihood of rainfall, possibly heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

According to Jordan News Agency, the PSD emphasized the need for the public to exercise caution and adhere to safety measures. Residents are urged to avoid valleys, flood-prone areas, and low-lying regions, particularly around Aqaba and the Dead Sea. The PSD strongly advised against crossing pooled or flowing water, whether on foot or by vehicle, to prevent accidents.

Additionally, motorists are advised to drive carefully on wet roads and remain vigilant due to reduced visibility caused by fog in mountainous areas and dust in desert regions. The PSD also warned of strong winds and gusts, advising residents to secure loose objects that could be blown away.

The PSD further advised on the safe use of heating devices, cautioning against refueling heaters while in use and recommending they be turned off before sleeping. Proper and continuous ventilation in homes was also stressed, with a warning against using wood-burning stoves due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The PSD assured the public of its readiness to respond to emergencies and encouraged the use of the unified emergency number (911) when necessary.
