Jordanian and Libyan prime ministers Sunday held a meeting in Amman for a discussion on the two countries’ ties and means to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh and the Prime Minister of Libya’s Interim Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh agreed to form a committee tasked with addressing the issue of medical treatment bills owed to Jordanian hospitals by Libyan citizens.
The meeting, which was attended by officials from both sides, agreed the Jordanian and Libyan health ministers should sit together to draw plans to rehabilitate and develop Libyan health workers, where Jordan would offer its expertise in that area.
Khasawneh emphasised the importance of enhancing the Jordan-Libya cooperation and coordination on all levels, and he stressed Jordan’s support for the political conciliation that would uphold security and stability in Libya and help the country fight terrorism.
He underscored Jordan’s keenness to place its expertise and capabilities at the disposal of Libya’s government.
He highlighted His Majesty King Abdullah II’s message in a meeting with Dbeibeh earlier today that Jordan stands with Libya and supports its efforts to protect its unity, stability and security.
For his part, Dbeibeh highlighted Jordan’s regional role and His Majesty’s role in finding solutions to many regional and international challenges.
He lauded the Jordan-Libya “deep and historical” ties, emphasising the need for further cooperation and coordination between the two counties on many issues and areas.
He expressed that he is looking forward to Libya leveraging Jordan’s expertise in human resources and exploring cooperation on health, education and banking. He also said Libya is keen to involve Jordan in the efforts to rebuild Libya.
