PM Jafar Hassan Engages in Mafraq Governorate Initiatives, Advocates for Development and Heritage Promotion

Mafraq: Prime Minister Jafar Hassan participated in a tree-planting event at the newly established Mafraq Park, marking the occasion of Arbor Day and the commencement of the park's construction aimed at providing recreational space for the governorate's residents. This initiative is part of Hassan's ongoing field visits to the northeastern region.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Prime Minister was joined by Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khraisat and Al al-Bayt University President Osama Nuseir, as they reviewed the comprehensive plans for the 200-dunum Mafraq Park. The project envisions planting approximately 10,000 trees and includes the development of playgrounds, picnic areas, green spaces, sports facilities, family and children's amenities, and parking spaces. Hassan suggested potential expansions, including additional sports halls and a wider walking path, to enhance the park's offerings.

The establishment of the park was announced by the Prime Minister during a previous cabinet meeting held in Mafraq, with land allocated by Al al-Bayt University. During the same field tour, Hassan, accompanied by Minister of Health Ibrahim Al-Badour, visited the Mafraq Government Hospital. He instructed that a tender for a new building, featuring a 55-bed emergency department, a 30-machine dialysis unit, and 10 intensive care beds, be issued before the month ends. Additionally, plans are underway to add a new floor to the outpatient clinics building to cater to around 700,000 residents.

The Prime Minister also inspected the newly constructed Mafraq Primary Health Center, which he had previously ordered. He emphasized the need for improved services at the facility, which serves over 37,000 people. At the Rihab archaeological site, known for its churches and historical landmarks, Hassan, alongside Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin, proposed its inclusion in tourist routes and international promotion due to its historical significance.

Hassan urged the acceleration of maintenance and restoration work at the Rihab site, focusing on the mosaic floors. He also advocated for the development of pathways within the heritage village and the training of local tour guides. The Rihab archaeological site is celebrated for its ancient landmarks, including churches such as St. George, St. Mary, and St. John the Baptist, as well as the renowned Cave Church, all noted for their impressive mosaics and historical value.
