PM Announces Comprehensive Development Plan for Madaba, Condemns Israel’s Gaza Offensive

Madaba: Prime Minister Hassan, during his recent visit to Madaba, unveiled a series of significant development projects aimed at enhancing the region’s infrastructure, healthcare, and education sectors. The announcement also included a strong condemnation of Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza. The new initiatives include the construction of a government hospital and the introduction of a rapid bus route between Madaba and Amman, as part of a broader development vision for the city.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Health Firas Hawari outlined several ongoing and future healthcare projects. These include the construction of the Western (Azaydeh) Health Centre and the first Madaba camp health centre, with completion expected next year. A feasibility study for a new Madaba Hospital building is projected for 2026-2030, with an estimated cost of JOD60 million. Plans also involve expanding the Malih Comprehensive Health Centre and upgrading equipment for local hospitals.

Minister of Education Azmi Mahafzah reported on educational developments, including the establishment of three new schools in Madaba, valued at JOD2.68 million. Future projects will see the construction of the Dhiban Vocational School for Boys and six more schools across the governorate, all expected to be completed by 2027.

Local Administration Minister Walid Masri emphasized projects aimed at enhancing service continuity for Madaba’s municipalities, with initiatives anticipated to cost around JOD29 million by 2028. These projects will focus on local administration and tourism sectors.

Infrastructure improvements were detailed by Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Alsamen, including road rehabilitation and traffic safety enhancements. Future projects will involve roadway maintenance and the construction of Dhiban’s northern entrance by 2027.

Water and irrigation initiatives were addressed by Minister Raed Abu Alsaud, with projects focusing on water production and network improvements costing over JOD50 million. Plans for 2028 include expanding the sewage treatment plant and replacing water network lines.

Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa announced ongoing projects to support family assistance programmes, benefiting nearly 8,000 families. Future plans involve constructing 100 housing units for low-income families within the next year.

Agricultural and sustainability projects were shared by Minister Khaled Huneifat, including the Ma’in Agricultural Centre and water harvesting initiatives. Labour Minister Khaled Bakkar discussed the National Employment Programme, targeting job creation and vocational training.

Cultural and tourism initiatives were revealed by Minister Mustafa Rawashdeh and Minister Lina Annab, focusing on cultural centers and tourist site development.

Community leaders and civil society representatives in Madaba expressed their appreciation for these government initiatives and stressed the importance of continued investment and communication with citizens to enhance tourism and job opportunities.
