Plans Announced for New Justice Palaces in Aqaba and Tafilah

Aqaba:The Ministry of Justice has initiated plans to construct two Palace of Justice buildings in the southern governorates of Aqaba and Tafilah. These projects are part of a broader initiative to modernize court infrastructure and enhance judicial facilities in Jordan.

According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Justice Dr. Bassam Samir Talhouni emphasized that these projects represent a significant step towards improving the judicial and administrative environment. The new facilities aim to offer an appropriate setting for judicial services, catering to the needs of both litigants and justice sector workers.

The ministry has allocated funds for 2026 to conduct studies, develop engineering designs, and prepare tender documents in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. Each building will span between 9,000 to 10,000 square meters on plots of 10 dunums each and will adhere to sustainability standards, ensuring accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The designs for the justice palaces will incorporate green building concepts and include technical equipment and systems necessary for modern judicial operations. The construction cost for each building is estimated to range between JD6.5 and 7 million, with tenders expected to be issued in the second quarter of 2027. The projects are anticipated to take three to four years to complete.

This effort is part of the Ministry of Justice's continuing initiative to update the justice system, improve the efficiency of judicial facilities, and enhance the quality of services provided to citizens.
