Plan to ‘Feminize’ Teaching Staff in Jordan’s Boy Schools Up to 6th Grade Announced

Amman: The Ministry of Education announced a new initiative aimed at “feminizing” teaching staff in Jordan’s boy schools up to the 6th grade, with the intention of improving children’s academic achievement.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry explained that the decision is based on recent studies indicating a 73.5 percent improvement in student attitudes when early grades are taught by female teachers. The ministry highlighted that female teachers contribute to a safer learning environment and provide psychological support for students in the early school years.

The initiative will affect 123 schools throughout the Kingdom, with the “feminization” process being implemented by existing female teachers. The ministry also plans to appoint new female staff if necessary, aiming for the changes to take effect at the beginning of the next academic year.

Male teachers will be reassigned to administrative and support roles in schools and educational directorates. Instructions have been sent to the Director of Education to facilitate the transfer of teaching and administrative staff, address staff shortages, and make necessary amendments in school-based appointments for the 2025-2026 academic year.
