Amman: The second international medical conference of Maqasid Charity Hospital (MCH), affiliated with the Zakat Fund, began Thursday, under the theme: "Innovation and Excellence in Healthcare Towards a More Sustainable Medical Future." The event, which will continue through next Saturday, features participation of experts, consultants, academics, and researchers from within Jordan and abroad.
According to Jordan News Agency, the opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the hospital and Director General of the Zakat Fund, Dr. Abdul Smirat, deputizing for Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mohammad Khalaileh. Dr. Smirat emphasized that the Ministry and the Zakat Fund pay close attention to health endowments as a development tool that ensures healthcare provision for future generations.
Dr. Smirat highlighted the conference's role in reflecting the hospital's commitment to scientific research and the exchange of expertise and ideas, aiming to benefit the Kingdom's health sector. He explained that the hospital serves as the medical arm of the Zakat Fund, offering healthcare to various segments of society, particularly the poor, needy, and orphans. The hospital's mission also focuses on establishing social solidarity and sustainable healthcare endowments.
The conference comes on the heels of a recent expansion of the hospital, which includes approximately 1,500 square meters of new space and additional dialysis units. This expansion aligns with the hospital's organization of free medical days nationwide, enhancing access to healthcare in remote and impoverished areas.
Dr. Bassam Shloul, the hospital's Director General, stated that the conference aligns with the hospital's medical and humanitarian mission and its policy of continuing medical education. This initiative aims to improve the efficiency of medical staff, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and keep pace with the latest developments in the medical field.
Dr. Abdul Karim Abadi, Head of the Conference's Scientific Committee, announced that the scientific program features 89 research papers presented by a select group of physicians and experts, both in person and remotely. The papers address the latest medical developments, promote scientific dialogue, and aim to improve the level of care provided to patients.
