Petra: Restoration and maintenance projects in the ancient city of Petra are progressing in accordance with the highest standards, as confirmed by Petra Archaeological and Tourism Reserve Commissioner Yazan Mahadin. These efforts are aligned with a national strategy aimed at preserving the city's unique cultural heritage.
According to Jordan News Agency, Mahadin, accompanied by a team from the Heritage Resources Management Directorate, conducted an inspection of the restoration work at the "Qabr Al-Jara -Urn Tomb (Al-Mahkama)" site. This site is a significant architectural testament to the ancient Nabatean civilization. During the visit, the team observed the progress, which included architectural documentation, the treatment of structural elements, stabilization of the courthouse staircase, and cleaning of rock facades.
The restoration measures are designed to protect the site from natural deterioration and ensure its sustainability for future generations. Mahadin emphasized that these projects are crucial for preserving one of Petra's key landmarks and enhancing the comprehensive protection system of the reserve.
The Heritage Resources Management team, along with specialized technical staff, is executing the work under an integrated plan. This plan focuses on safeguarding cultural heritage, improving site management, and promoting sustainability principles within the reserve.
