Amman: The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in collaboration with the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC) and national stakeholders, has launched two pivotal reports, “Public Sector Integrity Review” and “Public Governance Review in Jordan.” These reports are integral components of the “Together – For Accountable and Transparent Public Administration in Jordan” initiative, funded by the European Union and initiated in March of last year.
According to Jordan News Agency, Muhannad Hijazi, Chairperson of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission, underscored the significance of the measures outlined in these reports to enhance integrity, which is crucial to the comprehensive reform process spearheaded by His Majesty King Abdullah II. Hijazi emphasized the importance of overcoming existing challenges to achieve the goals set forth and promoting a culture of integrity within Jordanian society.
The reports are in tandem with the government’s ongoing efforts to moderniz
e the public sector and foster an environment that promotes economic development. Hijazi stressed the need for collaboration with regulatory institutions to ensure fairness within public sector institutions.
The European Union Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, reaffirmed the EU’s dedication to supporting Jordan’s economic modernization. He highlighted the EU’s role in encouraging investment and creating job opportunities for the youth, assuring continued support to help Jordan fulfill its governance and integrity objectives.
Janos Bartok, Director of the Public Governance Department at OECD, noted Jordan’s pioneering efforts in the Middle East and North Africa region to implement an advanced governance system, reflecting significant progress.
Widad Qteishat, Director of the Public Sector Modernization Program Management and Implementation Unit, representing the Minister of State for Public Sector Development, emphasized that the launch of these reports aligns with the government’s modern
ization agenda. She highlighted Jordan’s advancements in transparency, accountability, and citizen participation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to developing a public administration that can effectively address challenges and meet citizens’ aspirations.
