Amman: The Department of the National Library on Sunday celebrated the 64th birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
According to Jordan News Agency, the celebration, sponsored by Library Director General Firas Darabah, commenced with patriotic musical performances by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army Band. The event drew a large audience, including participating institutions, school students, and youth initiatives.
Darabah inaugurated two exhibitions at the library: a photo and national documents exhibition, and a book exhibition. These exhibitions showcased images documenting Jordan's journey during King Abdullah II's reign, important national documents, and books chronicling the history of Jordan and the Hashemite leadership along with their national achievements.
Artistic performances were presented by Al-Omariya School students and the Greater Amman Municipality Folk Arts Troupe. The performances featured national and heritage songs, adding a cultural touch to the celebration.
The event, presented by Haija Al-Shamayleh, Head of the Training, Development and Quality Unit at the library, also included a seminar attended by researchers Bakar Khazer Al-Majali, Mohammad Al-Manaseer, and Hatem Al-Quran.
During the seminar, Darabah delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of the occasion in the hearts and identity of Jordanians. He highlighted His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership through challenging times and noted the national achievements realized during his reign, focusing on the Jordanian citizen as the center of development.
Al-Majali remarked on the King's commitment to national education, while Al-Manaseer reviewed the journey of the Hashemite kings, emphasizing the Amman Message's importance. Al-Quran praised the King as a distinctive national figure and noted the progress Jordanian women have achieved under his reign.
The celebration also featured a video presentation by the Watan Youth Initiative team, focusing on youth empowerment during King Abdullah II's reign. At the event's conclusion, Darabah presented commemorative shields to all participants.
